"Gwen Will Have THAT Taken Care Of"

Last night, as we're dining on Pan Seared Tilapia over Rice and White Acorn Squash with Butter and Brown Sugar, the phone rang. It's her mother.

I invited them to come down from Michigan for Thanksgiving.

My Love said they wouldn't come. They are.

My Love said that they would probably stay a couple of days. They're staying from Tuesday until Monday.

During their conversation, I keep hearing over and over, "Gwen will have THAT taken care of."

I am afraid to ask.

LOL! My dad has unexpectedly agreed to meet us in Gatlinburg for Christmas. This will be the first time he and my step-mom have spent anytime with my GF other than to say "Hi" a couple minutes at a football game. She and I have been together a while now ... this should be interesting.

Good luck with that! We are hosting J's dad and step-mom, now is mom and step-dad are mad that we didn't invite them! Not to mention, his mother and I DO NOT get along, mainly due to what she thinks may be tourette's syndrome on my part and what I think is a whole lotta bitch on her part. So really, the reason they are not invited isn't because we asked his dad first, but because she will NEVER be allowed in my home again!

Family stuff can be difficult. I'm going to New Orleans with N for the December holidays and staying with his family for five days. I love his family but it can be tough staying in someone else's house, living with someone else's family and all of their isms. I like the normalcy of everyday life sometimes and I definitely get agitated when I'm not in my own space or my own space is invaded for a few days!

I avoid hubby's family like the frikkin plauge! I've even feigned being sick to avoid visits to their house :)

Good luck...have you found out what will be taken care of yet?
I try to limit how often I have to host the holidays...easier to go to my in-laws or out to eat my parents than have them here.

So do you know yet what you've been volunteered for?

Seriously ya'll...I'm afraid to ask.

I may need some help entertaining two 80 year olds for a week!

Any volunteers????

The squash sounds like heaven! The (effective) in-laws coming for a week, not so heavenly.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Take them to Opryland Hotel to walk around. You know it's beautiful in there and visitors to Nashville love to see it. I recently took my great-aunt and -uncle there. They were amazed.

2 80 yr olds???? All ya gotta do for them is make sure they eat atleast 2 times a day, have tivo so if they fall asleep during Oprah they can rewind and prepare to have quiet time after 7pm. Kinda like having a 6 year old in the house.
